The Product Owner will lead the strategic development of a digital platform designed to address the challenges of big data integration, biomedical literature analysis, and scientific search. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will develop and improve tools that enable the seamless extraction, analysis, and utilization of unstructured biomedical data, facilitating access to scientific knowledge for researchers, editors, and publishing professionals.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of big data, unstructured text analytics, and search technologies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to translate technical language into user-friendly terms.

 

Additional Skills

  • Familiarity with biomedical or life sciences publishing.
  • Knowledge of semantic search, NLP, and AI-driven data processing.
  • Understanding of data compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR).

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, ideally within publishing, scientific data analytics, or digital platforms.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and product backlog management tools (e.g., Jira).

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Product Vision and Strategy
    • Develop a clear product vision and roadmap in alignment with business goals, targeting solutions for the integration and analysis of unstructured biomedical texts.
    • Prioritize features and product enhancements based on industry research, user needs, and stakeholder input.
    • Stay updated on trends in big data, biomedical text analytics, and scientific publishing, bringing relevant insights to drive product development.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate closely with publishing editors, researchers, and end users to gather product requirements and validate concepts.
    • Lead regular product reviews and demonstrate feature developments to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and managing feedback.
    • Act as the primary point of contact between the development team and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and timely updates.
  3. Backlog Management and Agile Development
    • Own and prioritize the product backlog; write detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
    • Work with development, UX, and data science teams to define clear requirements and deliverables.
    • Oversee sprint planning, retrospectives, and testing, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality delivery.
  4. Market and User Research
    • Conduct in-depth market analysis and competitor research to ensure the platform’s relevance and competitiveness in scientific publishing and big data analytics.
    • Analyze user behavior and feedback, using insights to improve platform functionality and user experience.
    • Gather, interpret, and act on data-driven insights to guide product decisions and optimize user engagement.
  5. Data and Analytics Integration
    • Collaborate with data scientists to develop analytics and visualization features that enable users to derive insights from biomedical data.
    • Work with engineering teams to ensure scalable and robust data handling for increasing volumes and varieties of data sources.
    • Ensure that analytics tools support complex searches and facilitate efficient information extraction from unstructured data.
  6. Quality and Compliance
    • Oversee the product’s compliance with relevant standards and regulations, especially around data privacy and security.
    • Collaborate with QA to ensure rigorous testing and quality control for product releases.
    • Monitor and evaluate product performance metrics, identifying and prioritizing areas for improvement.
